Clips
Clips and brackets are used at hundreds of different places in aircraft and spacecraft structures, connecting for example crossing stiffeners on the skin. Most items are out of carbon fibre reinforced PPS or PEEK, but we also manufacture glass fibre reinforced PEI and PPS parts, as well carbon-glass reinforced PPS hybrids (galvanic corrosion). In a recent research project, Z-shape carbon fibre reinforced PEKK clips have been successfully press formed from a laminate manufactured out of uni-directional tape.

Stringers
Stringers are characterised by a narrow width and a tall length. In 2011 DTC has invested in a special 100 ton press for press forming of stiffeners up to 3 meters length.

Ribs
There are various reasons to manufacture a rib out of CFRTP: assembly by welding the flanges to the skin, chemical inertness of the matrix for application in a hostile environment and improved impact resistance. R&D efforts have shown that press forming is a suitable technology for manufacturing of more complex products as well, such as a rib with varying laminate thickness and application of CF/PEKK uni-directional material.
