As of the 1st of September 2011, DTC is participating in a project called “Development of an Ecological friendly final consolidation step using Thermoplastic Fibre Placement for a helicopter door” (DEfcodoor), which is part of GRC6 of the European research program Clean Sky.
The DEfcodoor consortium consists of three members being the Lehrstuhl für Carbon Composites from the Technical University of Munich, the company Advanced Fibre Placement Technology (AFPT) and DTC. The project is carried out for topic manager Eurocopter Germany.
As the project title suggests, the research will focus on the development of an ecological friendly manufacturing process for a thermoplastic composite helicopter door component, by combining fibre placement technology and press forming.
